The Chinese market remains strong in demand and showed higher values than in recent months.
On November 10, the seventh edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) closed in Shanghai, with the Argentine Beef Promotion Institute (IPCVA) participating alongside 14 exporting companies.
Beyond the guaranteed influx of importers at fairs in this country, Argentine exporters encountered a strong, high-demand market, showing an average price increase of between $200 and $300 compared to the deals made at Sial China in May of this year.
Additionally, business leaders are optimistic about a very positive 2025 for Argentine beef due to several factors: prices in Brazil continue to rise, the United States has a reduced supply, and there will be less local beef on the market, as Chinese producers had a large stock liquidation this year, meaning that beef will be unavailable in the coming months.
Moreover, during the fair, significant interest in grain-fed beef was confirmed in an increasingly sophisticated market, with values much higher than those for cow meat.
Regarding the prices negotiated at the CIIE, some reference prices were as follows:
- Knucke cap off,Topside / Inside cap off: U$S 6,000/6,100 (cost and freight)
- Oyster Blade and chuck: U$S 6,200/6,400 (cost and freight)
- Trimming 70 VL: U$S 3,300 (cost and freight)
- Trimming 80 VL: U$S 3,600 (cost and freight)
- Flank: U$S 4,300/4,500 (cost and freight)
- Plate: U$S 3,500/3,700 (cost and freight)
As for inquiries about grain-fed beef, some reference values are as follows (chest cuts):
- Bolar Blade: U$S 8,600 (cost and freight)
- Chuck Tender: U$S 6,000 (cost and freight)
- Chuck Roll: U$S 7,100 (cost and freight)
- Brisket: U$S 5,300 (cost and freight)
- Short Plate: U$S 6,300 (cost and freight)
- Bolar Blade: U$S 5,600 (cost and freight)
For its participation in the CIIE, the IPCVA developed the Argentine Beef Pavilion, covering 500 square meters, featuring a large restaurant and individual booths for the
companies.
The companies that joined the Institute were as follows: APEA, ArreBeef, Bustos Beltrán, Compañía Bernal, Compañía Central Pampeana, Ecocarnes, Frigorífico Forres Beltrán, Frigorífico Gorina, Rioplatense, Visom, Grupo Lequio, Offal Exp, Quickfood, and Rafaela Alimentos.
